In a twist of modern political intrigue, JoAnna Mendoza, the Arizona Democratic congressional hopeful, finds herself in the spotlight for rather unconventional reasons. Her official campaign Instagram account has raised eyebrows by following several OnlyFans models, witchcraft accounts, and other adult content creators. With nearly 12,000 followers of her own, Mendoza's social media choices have caught the attention of many.
"It's an unexpected move for a candidate in a tight race," commented a political analyst. "But in this digital age, social media can make or break a campaign."
The buzz began when screenshots surfaced showing Mendoza's account following a dozen profiles known for sharing explicit content, including Brianna Westbrook – a transgender socialist activist with a penchant for BDSM gear and sex toys. Although the campaign has unfollowed Westbrook, the initial association has already made waves.
The campaign's Instagram account has also been linked to two OnlyFans users, Carriejune Anne Bowlby and Shanin Blake, known for offering an "uncensored look into their lives." While the campaign has since unfollowed Bowlby, Blake remains on the list. Furthermore, Mendoza's account continues to follow Nina Desoo, who operates an 18+ Patreon.
Beyond the risqué follows, Mendoza's account has dabbled in the mystical, following witchcraft-related accounts like "Instant Witch" and "Crystal Spirit Readings." One account still followed is "Sarah Elkhaldy – The Alchemist," who claims to be a guide in the esoteric arts.
Mendoza, a Marine veteran, is vying to replace Rep. Juan Ciscomani in Arizona's 6th Congressional District. This race is identified as one of the 18 toss-up House races for the 2026 midterm elections by the Cook Political Report. Before her congressional bid, Mendoza led the Arizona Center for Economic Progress and worked as a political consultant.
While her social media activities have drawn attention, Mendoza's campaign has remained silent, not responding to requests for comment. As the election approaches, all eyes are on how these online revelations will impact her chances against Ciscomani, who secured his seat in 2023.
