Ivan Ortola showcased his racing prowess and defensive skills to secure a spectacular win at the 2026 Moto2 German Grand Prix held at Sachsenring. This victory marks his second triumph in the Moto2 category at this legendary circuit. Ortola faced intense competition from fellow Spaniard Dani Holgado, who kept the pressure on until the very end. Crossing the finish line just 0.614 seconds ahead, Ortola's performance had fans gripping their seats in excitement.
“Ortola really showed his mettle today, proving he's a force to be reckoned with in Moto2,” a commentator enthused.
From the start, Ortola and Holgado set a blistering pace, leaving other competitors in their wake as they carved out a significant lead. By the end of the race, the dynamic duo had created a formidable three-second gap over their nearest challenger, Izan Guevara, who claimed third place for the Blu Cru Pramac Yamaha team, riding his Boscoscuro machine.
Further down the field, Senna Agius from the Liqui Mly Dynavolt Intact GP team finished in a respectable fourth place, fending off a late surge from Taiyo Furusato of Idemitsu Honda Team Asia. Manuel Gonzalez rounded out the top six, narrowly outpacing Filip Salac, who secured seventh for the OnlyFans American Racing Team.
Rounding out the top ten were Jose Antonio Rueda and Collin Veijer for Red Bull KTM Ajo, followed by Luca Lunetta for the SpeedRS Team. Adrian Huertas nabbed the 11th spot for Italtrans Racing Team, with Joe Roberts and Ayumu Sasaki completing the top 13. Other notable finishes included Angel Piqueras and Alex Escrig in 14th and 15th places, respectively.
The race wasn't without its share of drama. Riders including Mario Aji, David Alonso, Aron Canet, and Celestino Vietti were unable to finish due to various incidents and technical issues. Meanwhile, seasoned racers Tony Arbolino and Deniz Oncu had to settle for 16th and 17th positions after a challenging weekend.
Ortola's victorious finish at Sachsenring strengthens his standing in the Moto2 championship, highlighting his impressive racecraft and ability to perform under pressure. The gripping contest with Holgado and the consistent podium presence of Guevara further emphasize the fierce competition characterizing this Moto2 season.
