It seems that the excitement of the NBA Finals comes with its own drama off the court. Diehard San Antonio Spurs fans, Blue and Julie J. Swan, have decided to sit out Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Friday, June 5. This decision follows an unsettling incident at the Western Conference Finals, where the duo claims they faced harassment.
During Game 6 of the Spurs’ series against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the models allege they were subjected to verbal harassment by a group of fans. One of them reportedly even went as far as to grab Blue. "I had a lot of anxiety, and I still do thinking about going to a game," Swan confessed to the New York Post. "Because what if they do that again? Or what if there’s other people that will do that? It put that fear and anxiety in my mind; it’s like a stadium full of people. You don’t know who’s there."
“It was too much. I was pretty upset leaving, just sitting in my car afterward,” Swan said. “Trying to let the adrenaline die down, and I did end up crying because I felt very unsafe at the stadium. I don’t know, it was a lot.”
Although they attended Game 1 of the NBA Finals, which saw the New York Knicks triumph over their beloved Spurs, the memories of the previous incident lingered. Blue even took to social media, sharing a video of the fan grabbing her. The video gained traction after Game 1, with Blue alleging that the same group also harassed Knicks star Jalen Brunson.
In the video, Blue can be heard firmly saying, "Don’t touch me," while a male fan attempted to engage her in conversation. The fan went on to criticize her seating posture, calling it "disgraceful," and added, "Everyone in this stadium agrees, I guarantee you."
Despite the incident, both Blue and Swan remain spirited Spurs fans. Swan expressed her sadness over not being able to attend the games in person, saying she will still cheer for her team from home. "I still love the Spurs so very much," she admitted. "I wish that it could be different, and I wish that this had never happened, so that I could still have that fairytale moment going to these games."
James B., the manager for the two models, reported that arena security was informed about the incident, and the group involved was addressed but ultimately allowed to stay in their seats. As the Finals continue, Swan and Blue remain strong in their support for their team, albeit from a distance.
