Four years after stepping away from her iconic role on Channel 4's Hollyoaks, Sarah Jayne Dunn is yearning for a return to the world of television. Known for her portrayal of Mandy Richardson since 1996, Sarah took a bold step in 2021, leaving the soap to explore a career on OnlyFans and to teach pole dancing.
But now, at 44, Sarah is putting out feelers to TV executives, hoping for another shot at the limelight. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she shared her journey and her desire to act again. "I haven’t been on screen in over 4 years, but that doesn’t mean I stopped wanting it," Sarah expressed.
“Because this industry moves fast, and stepping back into it as a woman in her 40s? That takes a different kind of confidence."
Sarah's departure from Hollyoaks was not entirely her own choice but rather a result of her decision to stay with OnlyFans after being asked to shut down her account. Despite the unexpected turn of events, she has embraced her new ventures with passion.
"I never really left, it was sort of misconstrued," she explained in an interview last year. "When you’re an actor, you don’t ever 'leave', you’re in-between jobs. I’ve auditioned for other stuff, and if the right job came along and it fitted into my life and schedule, then I’d do it."
Sarah is now candidly sharing her aspirations and the challenges of re-entering the entertainment industry in her 40s. "But maybe it also brings something more…experience, depth, and stories that couldn’t have been told before," she remarked, inviting casting directors to see her as she is now: "If you’re casting, creating or reading this… I’m here."
Her public plea reflects not just a wish to return but a deep-seated passion for acting that hasn't waned. In the ever-evolving world of showbiz, Sarah Jayne Dunn is ready to embrace her next chapter with both excitement and a bit of trepidation.
