Maitland Ward: From Disney Darling to Hollywood Whistleblower

As a bright-eyed teenager, Maitland Ward captured hearts as Jessica Forrester on "The Bold and the Beautiful" and later as Rachel McQuire on the iconic '90s Disney show, "Boy Meets World." But behind the scenes, she faced a Hollywood that wasn't as glamorous as it seemed – a world where young actors were often reduced to mere commodities.

In a candid chat with Fox News Digital, Ward, now 49, opened up about her harrowing experiences as a child star. She recalls being thrust into "provocative" situations, all while under the watchful eye of a "twisted male gaze." "I can't speak to how Hollywood is today because it's such a different animal than it was back when I was getting into it," said Ward. "Back then, they looked at us young actors as like property... they wanted to mold and form us into what they needed for the company and the audience."

"It was like a factory kind of environment. Like you were just a product being sold, and you knew that yourself," Ward reflected.

Escaping the Hollywood Machine

Ward, who stars in the upcoming Investigation Discovery episode "Hollywood Demons," sees this as a chance to shed light on the industry's darker corners. She recounts a time when young actors were expected to fit a specific mold, often at the cost of their own identity. "I think this show really examines that on a lot of fronts in young Hollywood," she shared, emphasizing the pressure to embody two conflicting personas – the virginal yet provocative starlet.

Reflecting on her time on "Boy Meets World," Ward admits it was tough to revisit the "provocative, weird situations" she was placed in. Despite the discomfort, it wasn't until years later that she realized the extent of the industry's manipulation. As she puts it, "We all just thought it was normal and nobody thought anything of it."

Finding Empowerment Beyond the Spotlight

Since stepping away from her child star image, Ward has found empowerment in the adult film industry, defying societal norms and expectations. She penned her memoir, "Rated X: How Porn Liberated Me from Hollywood," which delves into her journey of self-discovery and liberation.

"I think people have a misconception about actors in general, and of course people in the adult industry," Ward explained. She hopes her story resonates with readers, particularly those who've been told "no" too many times in life. Now, she stands as a beacon for authenticity, urging others to break free from societal boxes and discover their true selves.
