This 50-year-old ceramics community, known for its dedication to teaching and showcasing pottery, has launched a daring new campaign: an OnlyFans channel that’s all about spicing things up and attracting a younger audience. A Bold New Rebranding

"The owner Rob Galletta is the son of one of our members, and they had suggested that we look at a rebranding of our guild that has been around for 50 years," shares Kathy Verbeek-Chawru from the Hill Potters Guild. This led to the creation of "Ceramics Are Sexy," a campaign heavily inspired by the iconic pottery scene from the movie Ghost. The aim? To highlight the sensual and, dare we say, dirty aspects of working with clay.

“At first, we were like, I don’t know… Is this okay? And then we saw what they produced, and we really found it tasteful," Verbeek-Chawru admits. "The person who’s in the video, he’s a potter who knows how to throw, and clay is a very sensual material, so we thought, okay, we can be fun, we can be cheeky.”

More Than Just a Pretty Face

The Hill Potters Guild's OnlyFans account might surprise some, given the platform's typical user base. Instead of the expected content, the Guild offers pottery tutorials, behind-the-scenes footage, and educational videos – all with a playful twist to celebrate the tactile connection between artist and material. With lesson titles like “Grip the Base” and “Get Wet,” they’re definitely having fun with it.

Currently, the OnlyFans site is in its early stages, and the guild is still deciding on future content. "We have had a lot of interest from people and from media calling us about this OnlyFans," Verbeek-Chawru notes. "Of course, we’ll never be posting our naked bodies on our OnlyFans. I can honestly say that."

Connecting in a Digital World

Verbeek-Chawru believes pottery is gaining attention, especially among younger generations, because it offers a refreshing break from the digital world. "We are trying very hard to stay current with the world and with our craft," she explains. "If this is a platform that we could talk about getting people off their phones, off computers, off websites like OnlyFans, and actually doing the art, I think that helps connect people not only to that work but also to each other.”

The Hill Potters Guild's innovative approach may be unconventional, but their message is clear: ceramics are for everyone, and yes, they can indeed be quite sexy.
