What do you do when you're in the remote heart of Texas oil country, far away from city lights and bustling nightlife? If you're part of the oilfield crew, the answer just might be scrolling through OnlyFans.
According to a fascinating analysis by adult search engine Onlyguider, viewers in the sparsely populated counties of the Permian Basin are spending more per capita on OnlyFans than anywhere else in the Lone Star State. Surprisingly, it's not the urban giants like Dallas, Austin, or Houston leading the pack. "We expected the usual urban hotspots to dominate," shared Sam Pierce, Onlyguider's chief executive. "But the data painted a different picture."
"These guys are young, rich, bored, and isolated – that's a perfect storm for digital vice," he said. "The modern oil boom isn't just about money – it's about what people do with it when they're stuck in the middle of nowhere."
Loving County, a tiny region bordering New Mexico, leads the charge in this digital spending spree. Despite its population being a mere 48, it tops the charts with over $13 million spent per 10,000 people. The influx of oil workers in temporary housing, often called "man camps," contributes to these staggering figures. With few distractions available, OnlyFans becomes a go-to source of entertainment.
In this part of Texas, the population swells with tens of thousands of transient oilfield workers, creating an unusual per capita spending anomaly. As Russell Smith, a seasoned oilman from WFX Oil and Gas, put it, "The oil business can be lonely. Dudes are on well sites, doing nothing, or they're out away from everybody for a long time, family and everything. It's like being in jail."
The trend isn't just confined to Loving County. Other oil-rich counties like Upton, Reeves, Glasscock, Reagan, Martin, Midland, Karnes, Howard, and Andrews are also seeing significant OnlyFans activity. Yet, when it comes to overall spending, metropolitan areas such as Harris, Dallas, and Bexar counties still lead, with Harris County recording the most OnlyFans spending overall.
Last year, OnlyFans generated an impressive $7.2 billion in global revenue, showing just how widespread this phenomenon has become. "The spending data tells a story about life in the oil field," Pierce concluded. "The modern oil boom isn't just about money – it's about what people do with it when they're stuck in the middle of nowhere."
