A Huntsville-based doctor has found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Dr. Edward Witt is facing a lawsuit from two former employees, who claim that during their time working in his healthcare facilities, they were subjected to ongoing sexual harassment.
The lawsuit, filed by Jane Doe and Mary May, details a disturbing pattern of behavior. The plaintiffs allege that Dr. Witt frequently overstepped boundaries, making inappropriate comments about patients' attractiveness and even inviting them to watch him browse adult content online. The situation escalated to physical interactions, with both women claiming Witt made unwanted advances.
One of the most shocking claims involves Dr. Witt's request for his employees to shave his legs. According to the complaint, Witt once asked Doe, a medical assistant, to "step into the coordinator’s office" under the pretense of needing assistance. Once inside, he requested she shave his thighs while he directed her on spots she missed.
“He was wearing lime green underwear. He asked Ms. Doe to shave his thigh and his calves. She did so; shaking through the entire interaction.”
The bizarre request became a recurring task, with Doe required to perform the act monthly until April 2025. May, who joined the staff later, also faced similar demands, leading to emotional distress.
The situation came to a head when Witt's wife, during a visit to the ARC office, was unwittingly informed of the leg-shaving incidents. This revelation prompted shock and confusion, but no immediate action was taken.
By July 2025, both Doe and May refused to be alone with Witt, citing his history of inappropriate behavior. The following day, Witt terminated their employment via text message. The women have since filed a lawsuit in Madison County Circuit Court, alleging violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and seeking damages for emotional distress and lost income.
As of mid-January, no response to the lawsuit has been filed by Witt or the healthcare entities involved, leaving the case's outcome uncertain.
