In a gripping courtroom drama that unfolded in Charleston, S.C., a former mortgage loan officer, Sean Robert Onstad, from Mount Pleasant, has been handed a three-year prison sentence. The verdict came after he pleaded guilty to the unauthorized uploading of intimate videos involving women to his OnlyFans account, without their consent. The charges against Onstad were serious, including two counts of dissemination, procuring, or promoting obscenity, and two counts of aggravated voyeurism.
Onstad's legal troubles began when he was first arrested on March 13, 2024, following accusations from an unnamed woman in Charleston County. After being released on bond, Onstad faced further charges in Berkeley County, where two additional women took legal action against him. These charges arose from incidents where Onstad reportedly recorded himself engaged in sexual activities with the victims and subsequently uploaded these videos to OnlyFans, monetizing the content without their knowledge.
One of the victims uncovered her unauthorized appearance on OnlyFans in February 2024. After conversing with another woman who had dated Onstad, she realized intimate videos of herself were available online. Determined to confirm this, she investigated Onstad’s OnlyFans account and discovered a video of herself, which was being sold for $3 per view. This shocking revelation led her to confront Onstad via text, to which he remorsefully replied, acknowledging his wrongdoings and expressing regret for his actions.
“Hey.. I did, it was a terrible thing to do. I was in a bad spot in life and bad spot financially and it was stupid of me. I should’ve never done that without your consent and put you at jeopardy. I deleted everything off my profile and I’m deleting the whole thing as well. I’m really sorry that was terrible and selfish of me to do that.”
After the guilty plea, Onstad was sentenced not only to three years in prison but also to three years of probation. Should he violate his probation, Onstad faces the possibility of an additional seven years behind bars. Moreover, he is now required to register as a sex offender and must participate in mental health counseling. These legal repercussions are further compounded by a federal lawsuit filed in August 2025, detailing the same allegations, to which Onstad never responded. This case highlights the severe consequences of violating privacy and underscores the importance of consent in all interactions.
