Thomas Markle, Meghan Markle's father, is on the mend after undergoing a significant leg amputation surgery in Cebu, Philippines. The 81-year-old is currently in the intensive care unit, focusing on recovery. Despite this serious turn of events, Meghan Markle is reportedly not planning to visit him anytime soon.
According to sources, even though Meghan reached out following her father's surgery, the Duchess of Sussex and her father have yet to make any direct contact. "Nothing has changed," an insider revealed to royal reporter Rob Shuter. "Meghan is not planning a trip. Not now." While her team confirmed that an attempt to reach out was made, it appears that any communication remains indirect and controlled.
“To be clear, Meghan and her father have NOT spoken or communicated directly yet,” a source clarified.
It seems Meghan's hesitation stems from past experiences. Her defenders insist that she's acting out of self-preservation, with one insider explaining, "Her dad has burned her before. She’s being cautious." This atmosphere of caution and controlled contact indicates that a family reunion is not on the horizon.
Meanwhile, hospital staff in Cebu have noted that if Meghan had indeed made contact, the news would have spread quickly. "If Meghan or anyone connected with her had called here, we would have known," a hospital source remarked, adding that as far as they knew, no such communication had occurred. For now, it seems that Meghan Markle is opting for a cautious distance, focusing on her own well-being while her father recuperates overseas.
