Kate Nash has unleashed a sizzling new remix EP, breathing fresh life and beats into her 2025 protest anthem, GERM. This time around, the Foundations singer has joined forces with a dynamic lineup of queer collaborators and emerging LGBTQ+ talents, creating a vibrant reimagining of the track that challenges the status quo.
GERM – which stands for Girl, Exclusionary, Regressive, Misogynist – originally dropped as a powerful response to the UK Supreme Court's controversial 2025 decision regarding the legal definition of woman. The track quickly snowballed into a rallying cry for trans inclusion and allyship, with Nash using her voice to amplify trans narratives in the feminist arena.
"I want to hear GERM blasting in clubs this winter," Nash declared. "We need warm, banging anthems to carry us through the cold and the rise in fascism."
The remix EP is packed with fresh energy, featuring Peaches, who brings her electro-clash edge to the mix; drag sensation Bimini, who adds new verses to a punk-infused big-beat version; and charlieeeee, a drum 'n' bass newcomer injecting high-octane chaos. Jaguar channels the essence of UK club culture, adding a polished twist that keeps the dance floor moving.
Reflecting on her collaborators, Nash expressed her admiration for Peaches, reminiscing about their first encounter in Paris during a studio session with Gonzales. "She’s still one of my biggest inspirations," Nash gushed, "I was honoured to have her involved."
Bimini’s remix emerged from a passionate Instagram exchange, while Nash personally invited charlieeeee and Jaguar, who she praises for their innovative sounds. "I love how different each remix feels," Nash said, "It’s exciting to see GERM enter its nightlife era."
For fans seeking a softer touch, the EP also includes an acoustic version recorded on Inisbofin Island with guitarist BOOMVISION, providing a serene counterpoint to the high-energy remixes. The GERM Remix EP is now available to enchant and energize listeners everywhere.
