Catherine De Noire, a psychology graduate who stepped into the world of legal brothels at the young age of 22, now holds a senior management position in one of Europe's largest legal brothels. Her journey, spanning nearly a decade, has been anything but ordinary. As the leading figure just below the owners, Catherine has her hands full managing this intriguing business.

In a candid conversation with LADbible, she disclosed that some of her sex workers earn up to $50,000 (£40,000) a month, servicing a diverse clientele. Catherine insists that her business operates like any other legal entity, complete with paid employees, a structured client relationship management system, and thorough documentation.

“It's completely up to them how long they want to work. Some of the women are just coming in for six hours, and then they are done. Some of them want to work 11 hours. They really treat this as a full-time job,” she shared with PEOPLE.

Managing Without Control

Catherine's management style is one of respect and autonomy. She emphasizes that the sex workers are not bound to exclusive contracts. “Our sex workers, they are not ours. They don't work exclusively for us. You can't just be like, 'You need to do this, this and this for this amount of money',” she explained, highlighting the importance of consent and independence in this industry.

In this unique line of work, enforcing control with an iron fist is neither feasible nor ethical. Catherine's approach fosters a working environment where the workers feel empowered and respected.

Safety and Security: A Top Priority

Safety is a cornerstone of Catherine's management philosophy. Each room in the brothel is equipped with at least one panic button, strategically hidden from view. Employees are trained to respond within eight seconds of activation, ensuring swift assistance when needed.

“When [sex work] is illegal ... it becomes very, very dangerous. That's why I'm really happy to work in a place where it's legal,” Catherine adds, expressing her gratitude for the legal protections in place. In extreme situations, the brothel's team is prepared to involve law enforcement to maintain the safety of both workers and clients.

Empowering Women Beyond the Workplace

Catherine is committed to educating her staff about personal safety and financial independence. She advises them on setting boundaries, protecting themselves, and managing their finances prudently. "Just make sure that the money [is] still yours. It's in your bank account, not his," she advises, sharing stories of women who have secured financial independence through savvy investments.
