The bustling world of OnlyFans has been making waves as a lucrative side hustle for millions. But just how much do creators actually pocket? With over four million creators now on the platform, it's clear that OnlyFans is a booming digital economy.
Thanks to a recent report by Variety, which took a deep dive into the finances of OnlyFans' parent company, Fenix International, we now have a clearer picture. The number of creator accounts saw a significant rise of 29% in 2023, from 3.2 million to a staggering 4.1 million. Fan accounts, the paying subscribers, weren't far behind with a 28% increase, growing from 239,000 to 305,000.
“The average yearly payout for an OnlyFans creator hovers around $1,300," Variety's report highlights, "which includes everyone from casual users to top earners.”
In financial terms, OnlyFans' growth is even more eye-popping. Gross payments on the platform soared by $1 billion, reaching $6.6 billion in 2023. This figure, however, is subject to taxes and other deductions, leaving creators with a net of approximately $5.32 billion. With the platform taking a quarter of every dollar made, creators keep a tidy 80% of their earnings.
In a more personal spotlight, OnlyFans owner Leonid Radvinsky took home a handsome sum himself. The company's revenue shot up by $217 million, from $1.09 billion to $1.3 billion, with a pre-tax profit of $658 million. Dividends of $472 million were paid directly to Radvinsky, the sole shareholder, painting a stark contrast with the average creator's earnings.
While the platform is renowned for its NSFW content, it also hosts non-adult creators. However, the company's filing emphasizes that OnlyFans content can only be accessed by users over 18. This diverse range of content and creators continues to drive the platform's growth and popularity, even as the average earnings per creator remain relatively modest compared to the vast fortunes of its owner.
As OnlyFans continues to expand, the gap between the earnings of its creators and its owner remains a topic of intrigue and discussion, highlighting the dynamic nature of digital content creation.
