In a move that's turning heads and raising eyebrows, James Fishback, a fresh face in Florida politics and a Republican contender for governor, has unveiled a proposal that's anything but ordinary. Fishback aims to slap a 50% 'sin tax' on income generated by OnlyFans creators residing in the Sunshine State. This audacious plan was outlined during a candid Monday interview on NXR Studios' YouTube channel.
"As Florida governor in year one, I will push for the first-of-its-kind OnlyFans Sin Tax," Fishback declared, making it clear that his sights are set on a new frontier in taxation. His proposal targets what he describes as an "online degeneracy platform," and he doesn't mince words about its intended impact.
“If you are a so-called OnlyFans creator in Florida, you are going to pay 50 percent to the state on whatever you so-called earn via that online degeneracy platform,” Fishback stated with conviction.
Fishback, the 31-year-old CEO of investment firm Azoria, argues that this tax could funnel "hundreds of millions of dollars" into critical state initiatives, such as education, crisis pregnancy centers, and a pioneering mental health czar for men. He frames this tax not just as a financial windfall but as a moral stand to dissuade young women from trading family life for online exposure.
Historically, sin taxes have been the government's tool to curb indulgence in vices like tobacco and alcohol while fattening state coffers. Yet, these taxes often face criticism for disproportionately impacting lower-income communities. Not shying away from stirring the pot, Fishback even took to social media to call out 21-year-old Miami-based OnlyFans star Sophie Rain with a pointed message: "Pay up or quit OnlyFans."
The political landscape in Florida is heating up, with the Republican gubernatorial primary set for August 18. Fishback's proposal has already put him in the spotlight, promising an intriguing race ahead.
