Chloe Cherry Speaks Out on Euphoria's Bold New Season

Chloe Cherry is no stranger to the bold and edgy storylines of HBO's hit series Euphoria, but even she has some reservations about the show's latest plot twist. As the new season rolls out, viewers find Sydney Sweeney's character, Cassie, turning to OnlyFans to fund her wedding. This storyline has sparked debates over the portrayal of sex work, with some fans feeling it's been taken a step too far.

In a candid interview with Refinery29, Chloe opened up about the series' depiction of sex work and its implications. "For me, it just feels crazy as f**k to see somebody living like Cassie turn to sex work. Like... Holy s**t, that’s where we’re at in society?!"

“OnlyFans and sex work has become more normalized, but it's literally only because of capitalism and the economy getting worse. It has nothing to do with empowerment or power.”

The Economic Reality Behind OnlyFans

Chloe, who portrayed Faye in Euphoria and has a background in adult films, reflected on the increasing popularity of OnlyFans as a sign of economic desperation rather than empowerment. She argues that the platform's rise is more about survival in a challenging economic landscape than a conscious choice for autonomy.

"The economy is horrible, that's why people are turning to it," she stated. Chloe further added that despite its allure as a side hustle, OnlyFans doesn't carry the same risks as other forms of sex work like escorting or stripping, making it a viable option for many.

A Word of Caution from Chloe Cherry

Having transitioned from adult entertainment to mainstream Hollywood, Chloe offers a word of caution to those considering a similar path. Speaking to Out Magazine, she confessed, "Genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, I would not recommend a singular person on this Earth get into the adult industry in an attempt to do something that is movies or TV or anything that's not in the adult industry."

She emphasized that entering the adult industry should be a deliberate choice for those who wish to remain within it, as the label of "porn star" is often inescapable. "If you're OK with being seen as a porn star for the rest of your life, that is the only reason that you should enter the adult entertainment industry... never to do other things," she cautioned.
