Outrage Over Unexpected Gym Usage

Students at Canyon Crest Academy in North County are expressing shock and frustration after their school's gym was used for a livestream event sponsored by an adult content subscription site. The event, which took place over the weekend, was hosted by Twitch user PayMoneyWubby and featured scantily clad women and even a depiction of a crucifixion.

The gymnasium was rented out by the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation, which manages facility rentals for private events. The 24-hour stream began on Saturday, leaving students like Parker Jaconette and Rihanna Roohanni disturbed by the content streamed from their campus. "The first thing I see is a full-grown adult, an adult man wearing a baby costume and being fed milk from a baby bottle," said Jaconette, clearly bewildered by the spectacle.

“People have just been saying how disgusting, or like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe this happened,’” said student Rihanna Roohanni.

School Responds to Community Backlash

The school principal, Brett Killeen, addressed the incident in an email to parents, condemning the production as "inappropriate, distasteful, and in conflict with our organization’s core values." Killeen emphasized that the event violated their Use of Facilities License Agreement and that the district is now seeking legal counsel to explore accountability measures.

Despite the principal's strong words, the streamer known as Wubby held a different view. "We had a wonderful and very successful event that fully complied with our contractual agreements," he stated, although he refrained from further comments due to potential legal issues. Wubby's attorney, Jason Brower, asserted that the contract was "exceedingly clear" with no breaches.

Foundation Faces Scrutiny and Apologizes

Regina Twomey, Executive Director of the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation, admitted shortcomings in oversight, acknowledging the failure to foresee the nature of the event. "While the specific nature of the production was not disclosed to us in advance – and the activities were in clear violation of our Use of Facilities License Agreement – we acknowledge that, as the permitting entity, we ultimately failed to ensure proper oversight," she said.

Students remain confused and angry over how this event was permitted at their school. "I’m very, very angry," expressed Giordano Bruno, echoing a sentiment shared by many of his peers. As the foundation faces increased scrutiny, there's a promise of implementing stronger protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future. The community eagerly awaits the outcome of the legal consultations and potential policy changes.
