AI Now Wants to Rent Your Body

The machines aren’t just gunning for your jobs anymore. Now, they have their sights set on your physical presence as well.

Enter RentAHuman.ai, the brainchild of Alexander Liteplo – a savvy software engineer with a futuristic vision. Launched with gusto, this intriguing platform allows AI agents to “search, book, and pay humans for physical-world tasks.” Liteplo’s ambitions for RentAHuman are as grand as they are groundbreaking.

A New Gig Economy?

When Liteplo launched RentAHuman on Monday, he was already bragging about having over 130 profiles, including an OnlyFans model and an AI startup CEO. Though we couldn’t verify these claims, the numbers seem to be climbing rapidly. Just two days post-launch, there were reportedly over 73,000 individuals available for hire, although only 83 were visible on the site’s “browse humans” tab.

The platform’s appeal is simple – “robots need your body.” Making a profile involves listing skills, location, and setting an hourly rate. From package pickups to event attendance, AI agents – autonomous taskbots employed by humans – can hire these humans for various tasks. Payment is conveniently handled through crypto options, including stablecoins.

“Lmao yep,” Liteplo cheekily responded when someone called RentAHuman a “good idea but dystopic as f**k.”

The AI-Friendly Interface

Liteplo has ensured that RentAHuman is a haven for AI agents. The site prominently encourages users to connect through a model context protocol server (MCP), which serves as a universal interface for AI bots to interact with data on the web.

Notably, AI agents like Claude and MoltBot can hire the perfect human directly or post a “task bounty” – essentially a job board of AI-generated gigs. Job payouts range from $1 for simple tasks to $100 for more elaborate ones.

Challenges and Future Vision

Despite its promise, the marketplace's efficiency in connecting agents to humans remains unclear. Even with 30 applications, a task like “pick up a package from downtown USPS” in San Francisco for $40 remains unfulfilled after two days.

There’s also skepticism about the actual utility of AI agents in using human labor effectively. Still, Liteplo's vision is crystal clear. He imagines a world where anyone affluent enough to afford an AI agent at $25 a day can delegate their mundane tasks without uttering a word. This exploitative labor model is reminiscent of OnlyFans, perhaps explaining why some models are drawn to Liteplo’s venture.

As AI continues to weave itself into the fabric of daily life, platforms like RentAHuman challenge us to reconsider the boundaries of gig work and human agency. Whether viewed as a dystopian nightmare or a glimpse of the future, Liteplo’s creation certainly has people talking.
