AI Project Name Gets Caught in a Sizzling Mix-Up

Sam Hogan, the innovative CEO of American AI company Inference, recently found himself in an unexpected situation when his latest venture, initially dubbed Project AELLA, had to undergo a swift name change. Announced on platform X, the project aimed to revolutionize scientific research accessibility using structured reviews generated by large language models (LLM). But within a mere nine hours, Hogan had to pivot and rebrand the initiative as Project OSSAS.

The Unforeseen Name Clash

So, what caused this rapid rebranding? Well, it turns out AELLA is not just a catchy project name but also the moniker of a renowned OnlyFans model, sex worker, and Substack researcher. Hogan was blissfully unaware of this famous namesake until the initial announcement stirred the digital pot, as reported by Business Insider.

“We thank those who brought the context around this name to our attention, as well as our partners and the research community for their continued support,” Hogan graciously acknowledged in a follow-up post.

Aella's Rise to Fame

Aella's popularity skyrocketed in 2020, with her earnings through OnlyFans reaching an impressive $100,000 per month. Besides her work on the platform, she also charges a premium for her escort services. Her intellectual pursuits, however, are gaining significant recognition, particularly with her Substack venture "Knowingless," where she uses data mining to explore sex and relationships. Her innovative approach has caught the attention of tech heavyweight Marc Andreessen, who praised her ideas.

A Blossoming Collaboration?

Despite the initial hiccup, the incident may have sparked an intriguing partnership between Hogan and Aella. Under Hogan's post, a conversation blossomed, hinting at potential collaboration.

“It would be cool to do visualizations for some of your surveys,” Hogan suggested. “I wouldn’t mind,” Aella replied, leaving room for future collaboration.

By October, Hogan's company had successfully wrapped up an initial investment round of $11.8 million, with backing from big names like Andreessen Horowitz and Multicoin Capital. With such support, a collaboration with Aella could add an exciting new dimension to Inference's ventures.
