Bengaluru, Karnataka – In a shocking revelation, a 55-year-old man and his accomplice have allegedly duped around 10 hopeful candidates out of Rs 50 lakh. The duo masqueraded as Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) officers, claiming to hold significant positions within the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF).
The alleged scammers wooed their victims with promises of jobs at KMF, asserting they had the authority to select candidates without the need for a written examination or interview. They claimed that 25 vacancies were available and that candidates could secure a position by paying Rs 10 lakh as a government-related fee.
“They assured us the job would come through within three months,” a victim lamented, echoing the sentiments of many others who fell for the fraudulent scheme.
Karigouda S Patil, a resident of RT Nagar, was introduced to the main culprit, N Krishnan, through a contact named Gopi. This meeting at a Malleswaram hotel led Patil to believe in Krishnan's fabricated credentials as a KAS officer and director of KMF.
Nagaraj, the partner in crime, also presented himself as a senior KMF official, bolstering their credibility with a fake identity card. Convincing Patil and others of their legitimacy, the duo collected payments from December 2022 to December 2023, with a promise of job security or a full refund.
The scam took a darker turn when the promised appointment letters failed to materialize and the accused demanded further payments. Feeling cornered, the victims, who had once believed in the promises of swift employment, found themselves threatened when they asked for their money back.
This incident has led to a formal complaint filed by Patil at the Malleswaram police station against Krishnan and Nagaraj. The victims are now seeking justice and hoping to recover their hard-earned money from this deceitful duo.
